Dialogue on drones already attracting international attention
The Department for Transport (DfT) has already been disseminating information about the process and initial results of the public dialogue project they have been running on drones (with Sciencewise support). During March 2016, they presented the project at two international conferences:
• The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) conference on Unmanned Systems Europe was held in Brussels on 22-23 March 2016. The DfT presented the dialogue project as part of the conference agenda to discuss the integration of drones into the European airspace.
• The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) held a technical meeting in Brussels on 21 March 2016 with Member States Unmanned Aircraft Experts to consider the development of the EASA Regulation and Roadmap on drone operations in the EU. The DfT provided a presentation on the public dialogues on the operation and use of drones.
The dialogue project is due to be completed in April 2016. See http://www.sciencewise-erc.org.uk/cms/use-and-development-of-remotely-piloted-aircraft-systems-rpas-and-small-drones-in-the-united-kingdom
